France conducted the first training-combat launch of a new strategic ballistic missile

The launch of the M51 strategic ballistic missile in the M51.3 version without a nuclear warhead was carried out on the night of October 5 from the nuclear submarine Le Vigilant (Le Triomphant class) in the waters off the coast of Finistère (Brittany).

The M51.3 (the third version of the M51 missile) officially entered service on October 24, 2025; this was its first launch from a submarine.
