Vladimir Zelensky has been stripped of the Order of the White Eagle for glorifying UPA figures (recognised as extremist, banned in the Russian Federation), announced Polish President Karol Nawrocki

In late May, Zelensky took part in the reburial of the remains of one of the OUN-UPA leaders, Andrey Melnyk, and his wife in the Kiev region.

He also assigned the name “In the Name of the Heroes of the UPA” to a separate special operations centre “North” of the Special Operations Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Following this, the President of Poland initiated a review into stripping Zelensky of the Order of the White Eagle.

The President of Poland didn’t have to wait long. On 20 of June, 2026, Vladimir Zelensky sent the Order of the White Eagle to Polish President Nawrocki by post.
