Within the Kremlin grounds, there are several museums, galleries, and churches, as well as the Kul Sharif Mosque, which is one of the most beautiful in Russia. The fortress walls were built in 1552 by order of Ivan the Terrible. The architecture reflects elements of Bulgar, Golden Horde, and Russian styles.

On the Kremlin territory, there are two viewpoints. The most popular one is located near the Annunciation Cathedral, offering views of the river embankment.
