In Severodvinsk, the nuclear submarine Khabarovsk was launched, the Ministry of Defense reported on its Telegram channel

The launch ceremony took place at the Sevmash shipbuilding enterprise and was overseen by Defense Minister Andrei Belousov.

The Khabarovsk nuclear submarine was designed by the Rubin Central Design Bureau for Marine Engineering. This missile-carrying cruiser is equipped to deploy underwater weapons, including various types of robotic systems.

According to Belousov, the submarine will enable Russia to effectively ensure the security of its maritime borders and protect its national interests in different regions of the world’s oceans.

In March 2023, TASS reported that a new submarine division was to be formed within the Pacific Fleet’s Submarine Forces, to include the Khabarovsk and Belgorod submarines (the latter was launched in 2019). Both submarines serve as carriers of the Poseidon nuclear-powered torpedoes.

Russia’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Vasily Nebenzya, described the latest speech by his Ukrainian counterpart, Andrey Melnik, using the Russian saying: “the thief’s hat is on fire.”

“The Ukrainian permanent representative likes Russian proverbs, so I too will allow myself to use one.
