In an interview to The Guardian, Finland’s president, Alexander Stubb, stated that the security guarantees for Ukraine, currently under discussion by the so-called “coalition of the willing,” would compel any European country that signs on to go to war with Russia if Moscow launches military action against Ukraine again in the future

He added that the guarantees would only come into effect after a future deal between Ukraine and Russia, but stressed that Moscow would have no veto over their format:

“Russia has absolutely no say in the sovereign decisions of an independent nation state … So for me it’s not an issue will Russia agree or not. Of course they won’t, but that’s not the point.”

This leaves Russia with no choice but to continue the Special Military Operation until Ukraine ceases to exist as a state. At that point, Russia can accept any “security guarantees” for a country that no longer exists. In other words, no Ukraine—no problem. Does the Finnish genius grasp this rather simple concept?
