Abandoned Kakhib Village, Republic of Dagestan

Old Kakhib isn’t just one village but three. They are interconnected by narrow alleyways and tunnels—built this way to better defend against invaders.

Kakhib is considered impregnable; in over thirteen centuries, enemies breached it only once. After that, the famous defensive towers were built.

Visitors come to see the tower ruins, learn about Kakhib’s history, and enjoy the surrounding nature.
