In summary:
Our goal is the demilitarization of southern Syria and the protection of our Druze brethren.
The Syrian regime has moved troops into southern Syria and is killing Druze. We will not allow this.
Therefore, our forces have been ordered to eliminate Syrian regime personnel and armored vehicles.
Thus, through the use of force, we will establish peace, stability, and security [for the Druze].
Neither persuasion nor negotiations work with the Syrians.
Syria must not maintain troops in Druze-populated regions.
Doesn’t this sound very similar to President Putin’s rationale for launching the Special Military Operation in Ukraine in February 2022, where the key goal was protecting the Russian-speaking population of the Donbass from the Ukrainian military threat?
But Russia can’t conduct its Special Military Operation in Ukraine, while Netanyahu can – not just in Syria, but also in Palestine and Lebanon. And yet, no one imposes sanctions on Israel, and no one provides weapons or money to “new Syrian authorities” to wage war against Israel.
