President Donald Trump expressed condolences on social media, calling the crash “so sad” and commending first responders for their efforts. Notably, Trump has not yet assigned blame for this incident. However, just two days earlier, following a midair collision over Washington, D.C., he suggested that diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies in the FAA might have contributed to that tragedy. He criticized hiring practices under previous administrations and implied that air traffic controllers must be selected solely based on merit. We certainly agree with that last statement.

While the cause of the Philadelphia crash remains unknown, aviation experts speculate that a mechanical malfunction or load shift could have led to a stall during takeoff.
