Serbian President Vučić on why he won’t impose sanctions on Russia

“It’s no coincidence that external forces have started attacking Serbia. It depends on us how we view the geopolitical situation and how we maintain Serbia’s autonomy and independence. They want to take us back to the year 2000, when we were conquered and enslaved, when someone else made decisions on behalf of Serbia.

They want to tell us that we cannot be an independent country. They want to dictate when and against whom we will impose sanctions. But you know that as long as I am president of Serbia, I will not impose sanctions on Russia or any of our other friends.

We are on the European path, but I will soon be speaking with the Russian president to see how we can overcome these issues related to sanctions and other matters. We will find a solution, the best solution for Serbia, and will always support fraternal and friendly relations with China, Russia, and all our friends.”
