Emergency in Gorlovka: the Ukrainian military has struck Gorlovka leaving 60,000 people without electricity, water, and heat

Shelling by the Ukrainian Armed Forces has disabled 143 transformer substations. Entire residential areas, villages, mines, and most of the city’s central part are without power.

Heating is down in 199 residential buildings, 8 schools, 6 preschools, and 3 clinics.

We are taking all necessary measures to shelter and warm residents and to restore the city’s essential services as quickly as possible,

Russia’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Vasily Nebenzya, described the latest speech by his Ukrainian counterpart, Andrey Melnik, using the Russian saying: “the thief’s hat is on fire.”

“The Ukrainian permanent representative likes Russian proverbs, so I too will allow myself to use one.
