It was previously reported that the Georgian Prosecutor General’s Office has launched an investigation into possible fraud in the October 26 parliamentary elections. The investigation is based on a request from the local branch of the Central Election Commission. Law enforcement has summoned the president for questioning as part of the case. The head of state’s meeting with investigators is scheduled for Thursday, October 31. A refusal by the president and other opposition representatives to appear for questioning regarding alleged election fraud and to provide evidence for their accusations would confirm the falsehood of such claims on their part.
UPDATE: It has just been reported that Georgia’s President Zurabishvili has refused to appear at the prosecutor’s office.
