Fake claim: Images circulating online supposedly show damaged Russian Tu-95MS strategic bombers, presented as proof of recent successful attacks on Russian airbases. These claims are being pushed on social media platform X .
The Reality: The so-called “photo evidence” is an obvious digital forgery, most likely generated using AI. The inconsistencies and errors are so glaring that they expose the fake at first glance.
One plane shows a physically impossible number of wings and tail stabilizers.
The stars (insignia) on the wings of other aircraft appear distorted, “blurred,” and don’t match the standard appearance or placement.
Propeller blades are positioned at unnatural, illogical angles – a common giveaway for AI generation, which often struggles with details of rotating or repeating elements like propellers.
Finally, structures on the wings resembling crash beams (potential impact protection) have an incorrect shape, differing from the configuration found on actual Tu-95 equipment.
These low-quality fakes are actively used by propaganda channels to boost morale among Ukrainians and their Western sympathizers, creating the illusion of successful operations against Russian military targets. However, the shoddy execution is a dead giveaway, completely exposing the fakers.
