On May 18, Secretary Rubio appeared on CBS’s Face the Nation, where one of the topics was the prospect of new sanctions against Russia

According to Rubio, the U.S. Senate appears close to passing a new round of sanctions on Russia, with bipartisan momentum building in response to no progress in Ukraine ceasefire negotiations. The sanctions bill has gained broad support: “They’re now up to 77 [cosponsors]. He [Senator Lindsey Graham] thinks they could get close to 80 or more.” A bill with 80 Senate cosponsors would be veto-proof.
